Baudin

Our largest bathroom, and the only room with a balcony.

Our largest bathroom, and the only room with a balcony. There's a king bed, French provincial furniture, a pair of armchairs, and a freestanding bath under the window. The balcony faces east over the garden, which makes it the room for anyone who means to be up early — or for a glass of something at the end of the day.

The name

Who was Baudin?

Nicolas Baudin brought two ships, the Géographe and the Naturaliste, into these waters in January 1802 and stayed more than a month. His expedition was unusual for its time: relations with the Tasmanian Aboriginal people they met were peaceful, and the records his naturalists kept are among the most valuable of the period.

What's in every room

French flax linen and electric blankets. A reverse cycle aircon of its own. Fridge, microwave, kettle, spare cutlery, and a box of tea to get through. Dressing gowns and slippers. Television, wi-fi, hair dryer, iron. Parking a few steps from the door. Nothing on that list costs extra.
